Almost 30 years in the profession has led to the creation of this unique method of mechanical evaluation and treatment. CPMCare™ observes the body's framework based on how it adapts and compensates for a variety of reasons: handedness, anatomical variations, repetitive motions , injury history, etc. Specific tests are utilized to help determine whether the primary issue is neuromuscular, neuroarticular, structural ,or a combination of issues. TEST-TREAT-RETEST is the common theme of each visit. Some level of improvement is expected at each visit. You are then taught to self evaluate and self treat as much as possible between visits.
I have been involved in various forms of fitness activities throughout high school, the Marines, and currently into my 50s. In addition to being a DC for almost 30 years, I was a CSCS through the NSCA for 24 years. I have worked with athletes involved with Crossfit, running, weight lifting, golf, tennis, soccer, field hockey, baseball, football, etc, What I have observed with myself and with these athletes, is that when certain foundational asymmetries/imbalances are present, we tend to suffer with chronic injuries and limited performance.
CPMCare™ helps neutralize many of these common imbalances and asymmetries. Optimally, patients will commit to a program of self monitoring and self care, that will include various foundational fitness activities. My interpretation of foundational fitness, is the ability to use your body symmetrically. This program is designed to help improve, monitor and maintain a high level of foundational fitness. Unfortunately , you can often not just exercise your way to foundational fitness. On your journey to foundational fitness you may require outside assistance at times to allow exercise to become effective, instead of a constant cause of pain.
FRUSTRATED BECAUSE EVERY TIME YOU EXERCISE YOU SEEM TO INJURE, OR REINJURE YOURSELF ?
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT & SPORTS INJURIES CONTINUE TO FLARE UP ?
It could be because your body mechanics are off... A muscle may not be firing because it is trying to protect you from further injury due to faulty body mechanics. You still attempt to lift or run, etc, only to have your body compensate further, causing a variety of overuse injuries, leading to further compensations, etc. Rehabilitating complicated injuries becomes even more complicated without a strong foundation to base care upon.
Solving complicated mechanical issues is often like peeling the layers of an onion to get to the core. It can be done, but it takes time, and an organized, logical system of assessment, treatment and management. Often treatment provides rapid relief within just a few visits. However, the problems will often reoccur if they are not addressed at the most basic mechanical level. For example: if you get relief from back pain from office treatment, but return to your life lacking the basic information to help you monitor, self treat, and correct your lower extremity muscle imbalances, you are likely to hurt your back again. Do that enough times and you just might become a statistic...Disabled due to a musculoskeletal issue...and one more number connected to the "inactivity pandemic."
CPMCare™ & Foundational Fitness Care™ are interdependent. Optimizing one requires optimizing the other. You can't hope to develop a strong level of foundational fitness if you are constantly compensating for various asymmetries of motion, mechanical/neuromechanical faults, and adverse neural tension issues. Likewise, you can't improve your compensatory patterns if you do not recognize that there are FOUNDATIONAL MUSCLE IMBALANCES that need to be addressed to allow for better boney alignment, less joint wear and tear, and less adverse neural tension. MAKE SENSE ? I guess the best way to put it is that optimal care involves not just coming to the office for treatment. We must get you to perform activities at home , or in the gym , that help create better structural balance and integrity. That's why most office visits are a combination of chiropractic medicine, manual therapy, and self care counseling. The ultimate goal is to attain a level of foundational fitness that achieves neutralized or minimized pattern imbalances. Your brain must tell areas of your body to work that are not used to it. Your brain starts to forget that those muscles are there if you don't remind it regularly.
There are about 260 bones in the body and about 600 muscles . Muscles moves bones. Nerves tell muscles what to do, and what not to do , due to feedback from joint and muscle receptors. You may ask your leg to move forward for example. Your muscle and joint sensors may decide it's not such a great idea to move in the expected normal way due to a joint fault or a muscle fault. Your body will then create an alternate way to accomplish what you are asking of it, which often leads to a variety of imbalances and overuse injuries that tend to repeat and compound themselves.
CPMCare™ screening exams may help you avoid further injury and frustration, by detecting these issues, and restoring proper function. They can also help you make wiser decisions about what activities you should be engaging in until function is restored.
CPMCare™ screening exams are done in the office, but I can teach you quick screens that can be done by yourself, a friend , or a loved one. This will allow you to monitor/test, self treat, and retest. Optimally you would do this right before a run, or other workout. The best example I can think of is testing for stride. If one leg has a much longer stride length than the other, and you plan on going for a run, you should think twice. If you can't restore this with self care, it might not be a great idea to run that day. Optimally, stride length should be symmetrical . There can be many reasons it is not. Often it may require more aggressive care, such as Graston/IASTM, dry needling , joint mobs and manipulation, etc. That's where your CPMCare™ office visit comes into play. I can often help "reboot" a faulty neuroarticular, or neuromuscular issue, or perhaps provide a more aggressive structural release of matted down soft tissue that may be preventing normal motion.
Office based care is designed to do things for you that you cannot do for yourself, and to provide ongoing self care counseling. I DO NOT USE UNATTENDED MODALITIES. 100% OF YOUR VISIT TIME IS SPENT WITH ME, ONE ON ONE.

WHAT I DO IN THE OFFICE IS DESIGNED TO HELP YOU HELP YOURSELF
We are not a high volume practice. Optimally, we will be able to place you in 30 minute visit slots. This may be modified depending on your own insurance plan coverage. We will try to offer options that fit our model of care, while still taking into consideration your insurance coverage. Self care counseling is usually a part of each visit. This is covered in the office visit portion of your visit. (Some insurances only cover treatment without an office visit.) Early self care emphasis is placed on increased body awareness, as it applies to your own individual issues.

Founder and developer of this logical and effective approach for monitoring , treating and managing the most basic mechanical structural problems we encounter every day.
Provides for a more structured global approach to injury recovery and musculoskeletal health care.
Creates the opportunity to manage your musculoskeletal health from a young age .
My youngest CPMCare™patient is a very active 8 year old. Her mother saw the logic of this approach, and asked if she could bring her then 7 year old child in for this type of care.
Once you become a patient , I will teach you several quick screening exams you can do on yourself and your loved ones .
There are several very common patterns we all share. One of the easiest self screenings you can do, also provides quite a bit of information regarding your mechanical foundation and potential adverse neural tension issues. These issues may be located at various locations , from the bottom of your foot to the top of your neck. If it's a simple issue, you can just perform a self myofascial release and the test will normalize. If not , it may require outside help that a CPMCare™ visit can provide.
